Hello All!
Just wanted to write a quick post to share some of the cool things that have been happening.
- This past Sunday, I participated in a one-day workshop hosted by ZYZZYVA. It was exhausting (think six hours straight of literary criticism both given and received), but definitely rewarding. And I was honored just to be selected. Of course.
- I applied for the Esalen Emerging Voices Fellowship. Although I was not selected to receive the fellowship (which actually works out great because I wouldn’t have been able to attend… oops!), I was chosen as a finalist and my work was passed along to the Writing by Writers Board.
- I was asked to submit a short story to the 2019 COG Page to Screen Awards, and was recently informed that my story has been selected as a finalist. Even if I don’t win the whole kit-and-kaboodle, the story is going to be published! Huzzah!
None of this means I can now retire to a private island pursued by legions of adoring fans, but it is encouraging!
In other news, I have put together what I hope to be a semi-passable short story collection, titled Queer Fiction (it’s a pun), and I’m in the process of querying different literary agents.
I have also, as of yesterday, started working on a new collection of inter-connected short stories about my hometown.
And, finally, I’m still hacking away at my novel about madness, family, and the Greek underworld.
Thank you all for your support. I can’t believe how much has happened in the last few years, and I’m excited to see where things go!
Much love,
Laur
